Re: Boost Pressure..
Around 18-19psi
It differers though from turbo to turbo as obviosly a larger turbo than stock will be more effcient at the same boost pressure and make more power.
Mine was also detting after 5.5k at these pressures on stock injectors with raised fuel pressure and fse with the slightly larger turbo, the headgasket was on its way out.
Its been a long time since i have run a stock turbo but i suspect you can get away with it as i dont think the stock turbo holds boost to well in the high revs?
I would like to see an afr chart of a stock uno running 1bar though, as imo on the stock fpr i reakon it would be close to running lean up top from what i have seen with my car.
Saying that i had a quick look at unobreakers car at santa pod and that was in the 13s lean in the high revs on stock fpr and 1bar boost.
Made good power though 150 iirc.
I think its just the way the uno is mapped,it leans out after 5.5k quite quickly imo.
The other thing i have read which i am unsure if its true or not is that the unos igniton ecu can control the ignition curve with up to 1.5bar boost,so i think the ecu has a 2.5bar map sensor in the ecu,the first bar being atmospheric pressure.
Not sure what happens when you exceed this, but i think the ecu will just resort to its max pressure ignition curve after the 1.5bar.
Not to sure on it all tbh but its a pretty simple setup i suspect,i think some of the igniton curves are in the red haynes manuel.

Re: Boost Pressure..
i ran 1.2 bar with the pgt ecu and a seb0 chip and made 163bp, fuelling was fine didnt run lean all the way up to 7400rpm

Re: Boost Pressure..
Has anyone got first hand experience of AFR/boost levels while running standard mk2 management, fpr and big intercooler?

Re: Boost Pressure..
I already do. Just wondering what is a acceptable air fuel mix with boost of say 1.5bar. From what I've read I'm getting conflicting information. Some say 11:1, some say 12:1 and some say 13:1. What is classed as high boost on this engine, is 1.5bar high boost?
At the moment I'm running 1.1/1.2 bar and Air/fuel is 12.5/13:1. Fuel pressure is 5bar at idle. I use 99ron fuel (with additive), I have cold air feed from the front bumper and a Cosworth front mount which is about 4x the size of the original.
Once I move to PGT management it will all be taken care of but for now I just want the most out of it for the next few events.

Re: Boost Pressure..
after Leighton mapped mine it runs 11.5 afr all the way to the limiter when on boost 20psi, 12.5 to 13 is lean and your risking blowing the head gasket or melting a piston,
1.5 bar is defo high boost
1.5 bar is defo high boost

Re: Boost Pressure..
What sort of power is is you car producing, and where is it in the rev range?
I'm still in the middle of setting it up as I have only just acquired a fuel pressure gauge. If it runs into 12.5/13:1 while I'm testing I don't hold it there. My aim is 12:1 while increasing the boost. Having now set the fuel base pressure at 5.5 bar (raising rate 1:1) I have a AFR of 11.75:1 at 1.2 bar (17.4psi) boost.
I'll keep testing and report back here.
Cheers

Re: Boost Pressure..
200bhp plus I get spool under 3k gear dependent with power 4k to the limiter at 7400rpm,
330cc injectors with standard fuel pressure
It's going back to Leighton start of July for tweaking of the map and a dyno as it was mapped with the cambelt on a tooth out

Re: Boost Pressure..
I will be doing the PGT swap soon. Think I'll drop the whole lump in to start with just to make the job easier, plus I get the cam etc then.
Are 330cc the Punto injectors? Do you have standard MK2 Uno valve springs and cam in yours?
Oops! Let me know your new map results. Is Leighton FC Performance?

Re: Boost Pressure..
I see. I have spoken to him briefly once. I plan on taking my car to him once I have converted to the PGT engine management.
