whats the best stuff to remove waxoil

what is the best stuff to remove waxoil?
i want to get it clean & shiny in the engine compartment.

A scraper for the bulk of it then white spirit to take off any remaining residue

Yeah i think white spirits is the recommended way,i think i actually used petrol 
but this was under the car.

i would recomend white spirit to mate if its on the paintwork then i would prob polish it after
