Blue Smoke on Startup
OK if I leave the Uno for a few days it gives out a lot of blue smoke on startup. I have some receipts and it looks like the turbo was recently replaced, so I dont think its the turbo. Im suspecting the valve stem seals.
My question is, is replacing the valve stem seals something I should be taking on?
Should I just bung it into a garage to get it done? How much would that cost?
Thoughts anyone?

If its the valve stem seals then you will have to take the head off. Its a bit of a big job so might be best to give it to an engine builder.Have you checked the turbo for any play and oil in the boost pipes?

Re: Blue Smoke on Startup
could be valve stem seals, could be piston rings, could still be the turbo,
I would take the head off yourself and take it to a engine recondition workshop and have them check it over,
take the inlet pipe off the turbo and check turbo for play,

Thanks guys - going to give it to someone to look at. Im also going see if the engine block is warped, I read on another site that this is often a symptom of a poor performing uno. I dont think mine is, but whilst Im at it this is an interesting read http://www.sfconline.org.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=256.

Mine does the same... Brand new turbo last year so I'm guessing it's the valve stem seals too. Might have a go myself!
