Fitting a t25 turbo
What's the best way to fit a t25? Currently mine is facing down so the intercooler pipe would go under the gearbox but it hits the gear linkage rods, is it best to have it the same as the standard turbo where the intercooler pipe goes over the gearbox?

Re: Fitting a t25 turbo
Not really an answer to your question but make sure when all bolted up that the core of the turbo sits at the correct angle if this is for your gt25.

Re: Fitting a t25 turbo
I had fun fitting mine..., it will clear the gear linkages - just! you need to rotate the housing , took me a while trial and error.
I found it to be a bit laggy, but once going over 3-4000 recs its proper roared, but the one i bought had a serious smoke issue, so i ended up putting the standard one back on. Shame as it had minimal play.
The car is more enjoyable to drive with the standard one which spools up very quickly. I also have a stage 2 modified standard one, which has a bigger compressor wheel same size as the T25. I've not tried it yet as its on an engine going in my X19, will be interesting to see the difference once its running.

Re: Fitting a t25 turbo
Did you fit it so the intercooler pipe goes over or under the gearbox?

Re: Fitting a t25 turbo
under, it was routed the same as the standard turbo
I used a big bar to get it to rotate, after undoing the housing bolts and holding it in a vice, put it next to the standard turbo to get an idea of how far you need to twist it round
I'm gona try one of the rebuild kits and redo all the seals, eventually!

Re: Fitting a t25 turbo
The standard mk1 goes over the gearbox, my turbo is currently pointing down but hits the gear rods

Re: Fitting a t25 turbo
Maybe the mk2 Uno is different, my standard black uno pipes went under the car to the intercooler, i kept the same routing but used the bigger pipes for the T25, I've now kept the bigger pipes but put the smaller turbo back on, so basically its a straight swap once i've rebuilt the T25
You prob just need to rotate it 10-20degrees and it'll miss those linkages (mines top change so maybe thats different too?!), its a tight fit! took bloody ages to get all the pipes fitting nice

Re: Fitting a t25 turbo
i had a play with it earlier tried it both ways, pointing down there is fuck all clearance, its either hitting the rods or pointing too near the gearbox/block and it would be a fight to get the silicone hose on and not rubbing,
i've rotated it so it points upwards, mine didnt have any bolts just a massive circlip, just need to get a new actuator bracket now, uno190bhp whats your turbo off?

Re: Fitting a t25 turbo
still unsure what i am going to do, pointing the pipe up i need a new actuator bracket, down all i need to do is somehow bend or cut and weld some clearance into the gear shift rod

Mine faces upward Mark, and looking at the compressor outlet, its the same as mine. Is there 2 or 4 threads on the comp housing for the actuator?

I've fitted it now facing upwards, made a actuator bracket in the end, mine has 4 holes
