Re: Can one fit 13's over Punto GT front brakes?
I'm running 13" wheels, i think they're better for trackdays, more predictable on corners, grooved discs with decent pads and i can out brake most cars on the standard front calipers as the cars so light! rears i have golf gti calipers, which have a bit bigger pistons but set up with a proportioning valve.
I cooked the brake fluid at Goodwood last summer, but have since changed to higher boiling point fluid and could with adding air ducts to front brakes!
Thats just my set up what are you using?

Rich,
I had thought about using my old standard calipers...
Currently I have Coupe Brembos with 305mm discs and 16'' wheels but want cheaper rubber for this season of sprint/hillclimb. With the 16's I'm looking at £130 per tyre but with 14's I'm looking at £100 per tyre.

Cool its interesting to see other set ups, thats defo gona stop alright! what tyre's you going for?
I've got some hubcentric spacers and 8 x 13" wheels going on soon with 205 r60 Toyo R888 , they were bought for my X19 but as thats still a far way off finishing, so i'd thought i'd try them on the Uno!
Should be interesting, and more grip than the 13" x 175 on it now

I too run 16s and coupe brembos as slim knows, but my mate smed is seriously considering Wilwoods. I think theyre great for the money and alot of the clio 16v/williams lot run them on track including a couple that are pushing 300bhp with a turbod lump. Ive been out loads of times with them and always been impressed.
Think youd need 15s tho.....maybe 14s if u ran a standard UT size disc brake??

Rich, for the 16's I have 195 45 Toyo T1R's for the wet and a set of 205 45 Kumho v70a's for the dry. I want a set of 14'' alloys too so I can drop the gearing for the tighter hill's. Also, with the 14'' I have more choice of tyre and obviously cheaper.
Dunc, Yeah I have also considered the Wilwood caliper on the 260mm disc from the PGT and still may go down this route. I have just changed the Brembos for the PGT set up but not tried it yet as my box is with Quaife being built up with the LSD. If the PGT setup works well then I will leave it for this year. I may well sell the Brembo setup soon.
