Missed this but never seen a 3 door SX.
Don't think the SX front bumper is the same as turbo as no vents at the valance IIR.

Re: Lovely 3dr mk1 70SX
thinking about it my mate said his dad has a new OEM MK1 SX bumper. I'd a tried to snap it up if it were turbo.
Seem to recall reading that the 3 door SX was only made until the Turbo came out, after which only 5 door SX and never a 5 door turbo. Have seen a pic of a 3 door SX in Haynes, porter or autodata manual.

my mum years ago had a 3 door sx mk1 cant remember if it was an e or d plate though.
i drove it once and it broke down in the town center in peterborough, proper embarrassing that was.
think it was a sort of brown metalic colour.

Re: Lovely 3dr mk1 70SX
Yeah, I bought it. Probably a good price, but it all depends on the detail for me. Collecting next Saturday.

Re: Lovely 3dr mk1 70SX
Racing car is untouched, but I have the fuel parts I need to get it prepared for tracking this summer. Everyday T-Jet Uno project has not progressed due to the white 55s surprising me with rust and just generally disappointing me a bit in the detail. Lots of small dents and paint is pretty knackered and will cause rust if not repainted soon. Been using it for a year without a penny spent which is nice, but it is likely that this new one will become the project car and the 55s sold or used for spares.
I think I have become a fair weather mechanic in my old age. I mostly just need the light after work, so not long to wait until things start happening.

Re: Lovely 3dr mk1 70SX
Thats a bummer about the 55,did not look to bad from the pics if i remember.
They do hide there rot well though these things,i would take a a screw driver with you when you collect it and give this new one a dam good stabbing
Its around the same age so i would be surprised if it is truely rot free, same with any of them really, looks good in the pics though.

the holes are just cut outs.I took a stock uno bumper, removed the hole and the lights just bolt in.The red strips just need a couple of holes for them to press into.

Re: Lovely 3dr mk1 70SX
Guess your talking MK2 if you have red stripes.
MK2 stock bumper is not as tall as the SX or turbo bumper. I fitted an SX bumper to my MK2 999cc Uno and had to reverse onto my drive from then on so it didn't bottom out.

Re: Lovely 3dr mk1 70SX
Yep it looks deeper.
I know the mk2 turbo and stock are the same.
whilst we are on bumpers,
anyone have any idea where to buy rolls of that red bumper strip.I know it comes on a roll and you just cut it to size.My red car must have had a rear bumper change erly in life a s it has no strips or holes for the strip.

Louie is correct. The mk1 SX front bumper is similar and takes the same fog lights as the Turbo, however, the Turbo bumper is deeper by a couple of cm's or so, and has vents/ grills for the intercooler and oil cooler. Have a look at the picture of my 70SX next to Jai's Turbo and you can just see that the Turbo bumper extends a little lower.
The wheel arch covers, sill covers and rear bumper are the same on both 70SX and Turbo.
Also, the mk1 70SX did NOT come with an ARB fitted as standard, only the mk2 70SX and mk2 Diesel had them from the factory (other than the Turbo of course). Obviously, if you can find an ARB with all the brackets it will fit to any Uno. My 70SX has a UT ARB fitted, along with -40mm GMax springs and gas dampers all round. Handles like a little go-cart now
Lastly, from what I gather, the 3 door 70SX was only available for about a year or so after it's release in 1985. Prior to that the luxury model was the 70SL, which is similar but minus the body kit (and I think no front fog lights) and a different interior. Early Fiat sales brochures and magazine tests showed a 3 door 70SX being available, though I *think* the 3 door SX was discontinued in 1986, which would explain why nearly all pictures of a 3 door SX are on a 'B' plate (1985 - 86 registration). They are incredibly rare now, and this red 3 door SX has to be the first I've seen for years. I'm glad you picked it up Lewey!

Louie, it is there! I must admit I had to go outside and check (and take a picture), as I looked at the pics again and thought, um, where is it? On the non turbo mk1's it's actually welded to the chassis rail and somewhat recessed behind the bumper. Here's a pic:
