Re: MK1 Uno Turbo i.e
Ohh this looks interesting,be good to see how that turbo compares to you old ihi.
I will be amazed if it spools anywhere near as fast as the ihi though, but 200+ should not be a problem.
What ar is the exhaust housing on one of those?
You proberly already do but I would recommend also always letting these bb turbos cool down before switching off.
They have plastic/nylon ball bearing cages that go brittle and break up if they get to hot to often and can fail.
The unos thermal syphoning once shut off is pretty good though but its worth bearing in mind, especially if its glowing lol
Here is a sweet uno running a gt25,should be more vids on youtube somewhere,mk1peter is his name I think.

Re: MK1 Uno Turbo i.e
Nice
Have you had chance to see when the turbo spools and makes full boost by or are you waiting until after a remap?
I assume its rather rich atm with the 330cc?

Re: MK1 Uno Turbo i.e
Not had a chance to drive it properly yet to see, it's running a custom base map from fcp the injectors are matched with the chip

Re: MK1 Uno Turbo i.e
gtirx2 - I've had a chance to drive the car properly and the turbo has more lag than my old hybrid unit, its not too bad at all full boost from about 3.5k, but when it does come in it pulls much stronger

Re: MK1 Uno Turbo i.e
That don't sound bad tbh,i was expecting it to be nearer 4k or over, you don't miss the old ihi then?
I am quite fond of mine as I like its responsiveness but the gt2554 does seem the way to go if your looking for 200+ and still keeping a reasonable spool.
It will be interesting to see what it makes once its all done.

Re: MK1 Uno Turbo i.e
nah dont miss the ihi, i want more power than it could give, fcp reckons anwhere from 220 - 250 bhp with the gt25r turbo
have a look on psc the punto gt's he maps make massive power with the garret ball bearing turbos
can see the graphics i didnt do a very good job of getting them on straight though lol

Re: MK1 Uno Turbo i.e
having stripped the car of interior to have some bits welded for mot I have discovered it needs much more than I thought,
along with bits needing respraying, roof, around windscreen and rear quarter, passenger rear arch needs cutting and replacing,
I have decided that I have had enough and have started stripping the shell for it to be scrapped, years of living in a damp council garage have basically knackered what was once a really good shell,
gutted but I have had enough and am calling it a day

Re: MK1 Uno Turbo i.e
Very sorry to hear this too mark. You have had this for 11 odd years now haven't you?
Such a shame to see it ending like this. Wouldn't you consider a reshell or just breaking for parts? Any pictures of the rust so we can see how bad it is?
Sad times

Re: MK1 Uno Turbo i.e
yes it will be staying white, paintwork is too good to change just for the sake of a colour.
picked her up last night and drove 200 miles back home without any issues, its very slow though with only 45bhp, cant believe how good it is, it is like a 1 year old car
