What have i forgotten to connect?
And is it connected to several other issues i'm having?
Before you ask wtf am I raving about...some context...
Tippex destroyed her bottom end on the back end of Bedford GT over a year ago, so rather than tear the engine apart for a rebuild, simply dropped in the one from my red uno that had a rotten shell, and so far so good...sort of...
Boost is there, but is screaming right round to 1 bar, there's an awful high pitched whistling noise, and unless i stand on the brakes, I'm practically eating the ass out of the BMW in front.....
So far, this appears to be culprit no.1

the tube goes off to the ecu, but the other hole, appears to be missing a tube to go somewhere...
so, back to the original question...what the hell am I missing?!

Re: What have i forgotten to connect?
Mine go's to the dump valve but am unsure if this is how it was when stock, think it might have been though, are your running a bov and if so what have you T-ed off?
I would also replace the other hose going to the ecu as its looking abit sorry for itself, think that's an important one as its for the map sensor in the ecu to help it adjust the ignition timing I think.

Re: What have i forgotten to connect?
Have you a hole in the vacuum hose to the brake servo?
sounds like an air leak

Re: What have i forgotten to connect?
curiously it was an odd combo of thing, first off the hose from the back of the plenum camber that runs to the brake servo. Ordinarily, I believe, there is a junction piece, with two take offs, one for the dump valve the other for the ecu.
However, I didn't notice that tippex and red were slightly different, and ended up an extra t-piece spliced in...the mysterious third take off!!, So with able help from Chas, the third unwanted hole was blocked off and all was better, the whistling was reduced, but still noticeable, so the same issues would remain.
The noise appeared to be from the hose running from the cold start, Chas wasn't too happy with it, as it's not original, but it was removed, the ends trimmed to tidy them up, and replaced, and hey presto, no untoward noise, proper boost, brakes that brake...well as much as a UT does!
cheers all
