Quaife ATB Diff Empty Quaife ATB Diff

Post by Slim Fri Apr 11, 2014 8:24 pm

Hi,

Has anyone on here had any experience of fitting/driving an Quaife ATB Diff? I seem to have more noise from the box, it seemingly ran as normal for approx 500 miles and then developed noise under deceleration and sometimes under acceleration (high gear low speed). The sound is not a whine but more of a whirring note. The development of this noise lead me to believe that I had over loaded the diff carrier bearings during the build, so, I decided to pull it all apart and replace all bearings and rebuild. Now rebuilt with all new bearings and less pre-load on the diff bearings the sound is still present. In my mind it can only be the diff.

I've got one of these differentials in my Uno and a Panda. It makes no difference to noise of box in either (C510 and C514 gearboxes respectively).

Cheers Lewey

All sorted now. Rear engine mount had collapsed causing the drive shaft to put pressure on the diff.
