OK, time for another progress update...

Finished refurbing the gear linkage:

(Rods & pivot plate are new but painted up for protection)

Starting to look like an Uno inside instead of a bare shell:

A spot of extra protection around the vulnerable areas courtesy of POR-15:

Fished out this juicy OE part from my collection for a trial fitting:

Doors needed sound-deadening (Fat-Mat)...before:

After: (doors shut with a lovely 'thud' now Smile)

Did the rear quarters too (brown stuff is Dinitrol, and lashings of it too!):

Knocked up the relay mod for the 'leccy windows: (one pair for each side)

Fitted:

Fitted new central locking motors:

Window motor fitted, speaker cable added & door loom all neatly wrapped up along with the cables for the c/l motor:

Lots of other little jobs done too, such as applying Dinitrol in every cavity, sill trims fitted and rigid brake pipes fitted. I've also begun reworking the wiring looms - starting with the one that runs front-to-rear...all spade or ring connections have been cut off and renewed with new crimps plus soldered for extra security, eg:

I've also completely changed the +ve and gnd cables for the fuel pump supply (with 14 awg cable) to be sure of a good electrical feed to the pump, and started on the ignition loom in the same fashion i.e. cutting off old/corroded spades & rings & replacing with new, plus added the required cable to connect up the digital boost gauge (green wire from pin 23 on the Digiplex ecu). Will wrap up end-to-end with self-amalgamating tape when done.

That's all for now! Smile

New heatshield came with the car when I bought it last year, along with various other juicy OE parts Smile I've got the invoice for it too - bought in 1999 for £60 ish from a dealer in North Yorks.

A lot of what I've been doing seems OCD & I do have times where I feel like I'm not making any significant progress on the project overall but I'll get there eventually & all the OCD stuff will make a difference I'm sure.

Really enjoying reworking the looms at the moment - given the grotty/corroded state of many of the wires & connectors there's no way everything would've functioned properly if I'd have just thrown them back in as-is (particularly the injection loom) so it's particularly satisfying to replace wires for new, solder on brand new spade connectors, use colour-coded heatshrink, etc, then wrap it all up in the glossy self-almalgamating tape such that it all looks (and will work) like new Cool

My target is to have it done by next Spring so I can take it to Brooklands AutoItalia 2014 (assuming it's not raining on the day)...we shall see!

Another project update Smile

Got stuck into the pedal box a couple of weekends ago and it's all done & ready to refit to the car...

The whole thing had been sitting on a garage floor for 15 years or so hence was looking pretty rough, or at least a lot rougher than you'd expect for something that should have spent its life inside a car protected from the elements:

Stripped:

Cleaned up:

All painted & ready to reassemble (with new pedal rubbers):

All back together & ready to refit:

I also sent a bunch of parts off to be bead-blasted and got them back last weekend:

Some parts haven't done so well over the years:

Painted up the fuel filter holder/bracket:

That's all for now Smile

Pedal box is now refitted on the car, which in turn allowed me to refit the refurbed servo and (new) master cylinder assy:

Airbox is now in progress (will be taking my time to get it as good as possible and will top coat it with aerosol POR-15 for a super 'tough' finish):
